It’s time for our TRAVELS project this year. It sums up what we have been doing in recent years – we have managed to see a large part of the world. This time we focus on travelling in a much larger context. We are going to learn new vocabulary, meet different cultures and their histories and find out more about ourselves. We are going to pass our passion for discovery on to our students!
As in previous years we released an LP record to accompany the project. This year Joanna Zarańska, Justyna Tymińska and Agnieszka Gajewska wrote some funny, moving and captivating lyrics. The music for the project was composed by Michał Tokaj - a jazz pianist, Fryderyk Music Awards’ winner. The vocals were provided by Aga Zaryan and Sean Palmer. From the joint effort of these amazing personalities, the Travel Wonders record was created. It is something really cool not only for young English language enthusiasts but also for music fans.
It has been our custom to release the record with the children and teenagers singing solely from our Early Stage groups. This year, we are going to invite our students to a professional recording studio where we are going to create yet another musical work with a little help and supervision from our musician friends. Every year we are very proud to see, or rather to listen to, the outcome of our students’ work. This time we are sure it is going to be the same!
Marcie Bronstein, an American artist and photographer also got involved in this project. Just as in previous years, she prepared topical photoplays which create space for imagination and artistic passion.
The Travel Wonders project is of a social character – we support selected non-governmental organisations whose work is related to the current theme of our project.
We are going to help Fundacja Podróże Bez Granic Foundation (Travels Without Borders Foundation) which promotes an active lifestyle and makes the dream of the disabled to travel come true. Quite often they have lost all hope that they can go hiking or on a canoeing trip. The foundation proves that anything is possible and helps to fulfil their dreams. We are happy to be part of this project.
We also contacted the Stowarzyszenie Mierz Wysoko (Aim High Association) which works with children from dysfunctional families. The organisation provides them with daily help in the Brzeska Street Youth Club in Warsaw. This year the Association implements the Wilderness Therapy project which involves organising a challenging mountain expedition. Its objective is to build children's self-esteem and belief in their capabilities. We are going to support these activities with pride and joy.
We also want to commit to projects connected to changing attitudes and awareness building. This is why we have joined in supporting the Kosmos Foundation (Universe Foundation), the publisher of “Kosmos dla dziewczynek” magazine (“Universe for Girls”) – a valuable source of knowledge and motivation for little girl discoverers. We are going to be the partners of the “Travels” chapter about the brave and amazing girls living on our planet. Don’t miss a single issue!
